Portland Learning Center is a great place for learning!
We want to welcome you and your child to our early education and child care program. This information has been prepared to help you understand the policies and procedures of our program. Please take the time to thoroughly familiarize yourself with these basics. If anything is unclear, please do not hesitate to discuss it with the director or another staff member.
It is our purpose to provide the highest quality child care and preschool education possible. By focusing all of our resources solely on preschool children, we feel we can better provide the high level of care your children deserve and you, as parents, demand. Our goal is to enhance your child’s early development through their social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and spiritual development.
We accomplish this goal by providing a wide variety of learning experiences and activities. Our staff gives your child the loving care and guidance they need during these most important formative years and will strive to make your child’s learning experience the best it can be.

Licensing
Portland Learning Center is licensed by the State of Tennessee Department of Human Services. There is an annual licensing review of the facilities and program as well as unannounced visits throughout the year. We have been approved by the Tennessee State Fire Marshall and the Sumner County Health Department both for child care and food services. We participate in the Tennessee Star Quality Program. Our Star Rating Report Card is posted by the front door.
You are cordially invited and encouraged to visit, with or without an appointment, to ask questions and make suggestions. Close cooperation between our staff and parents is necessary to ensure the success of your child’s time with us.
